December 1998:
I spent most of
the fall working on turning my garage into a workshop where i could work
on my conversion project over the winter. I had the 20' x 24' two car garage
built last year but it had no electricity and was not insullated or heated.
To get electricity out to the garage
I had to dig an 18" deep trench some 40' from the house to the garage,
I'm glad I don't do that for a living! Then I installed conduit and pulled
the AC wiring out to a breaker box in the garage. I wired in 120v and 240v
outlets along with flourecent lighting and a garage door opener.
To work out in the garage during the
Wisconsin winters it had to be insullated and heated. I insullated the
walls with fiberglass batting and the ceiling with foil faced foam insullation
boards. I use three small electric heaters which aren't cheap to run but
they do keep the garage toasty warm.
To top things off I built a workbench
and bought some shelves. Check out the pictures:
